|  | IN THE COMMUNITY: Because we recognize the critical importance of being grounded within our constituent communities, we participate in community events, activities and discussions on a variety of topics and issues. We assist in creating sites for community based on shared values of respect, personal agency, accountability, safety and celebration. Whether we're at a drag king show or a city council meeting, we weave education about domestic violence, support services, anti-oppression, and safety planning through all our interactions. We have materials in multiple formats and distribute information from as many and as varied locations as possible.

The NW Network has developed a nationally recognized assessment tool and will be training on the practical application of our assessment process in this one-day workshop.
"Assessment” refers to an intentional process of learning about what is happening in someone's life in order to 1) identify how power, control & exploitation is working in their relationship and 2) connect that person with the best possible resource available

The Northwest Network of Bisexual, Trans, Lesbian and Gay Survivors of Abuse’s RELATIONSHIP SKILLS CLASS
Please join us for the Spring Relationship Skills Class. This is a 6 week course exploring the skills we need to build the relationships we want.

Supporting LGBTQ Youth- Free Training March 20, 2009

Are you interested in learning how to best support lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and questioning youth?
The Northwest Network of BTLG Survivors of Abuse is offering a free training as a part of our Natural Helper program on supporting LGBTQ youth in your community, work and life.
This training is perfect for school counselors and administrators, youth works, teachers, non-profit volunteers, LGBTQ folks and professionals who want to learn how to best support youth, youth workers who want to learn more about supporting queer and trans youth, domestic violence advocates, Americorps volunteers and community members not affiliated with any organizations and just want to learn more!
This training will cover broad information about LGBTQ youth and youth empowerment as well as practical day to day information about what supporting LGBTQ youth can look like.
This training is: Friday March 20th (FYI: Seattle Public Schools has no classes) 1-4pm Montlake Branch Public Library – Conference Room 2401 24th Ave. E. Seattle, WA 98112

We are pleased to announce a new institute coming this spring!
Advocacy & Survivors' Use of Violence
April 16 & 17(April 16: 9am-5pm, April 17: 9am-12:30pm) Seattle Downtown Comfort Suite Hotel Conference Center
Presented in collaboration with the King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence
From the margin to the center: Survivors of domestic abuse may use violence to resist abusive power, control & exploitation. This institute will help you increase your understanding of survivors’ use of violence and strengthen your advocacy skills with all survivors.

The NW Network co-Host an event @ the SAM ** Oct. 3rd!

We are pleased to announce that we will be co-hosting an event with the Seattle Art Museum the evening of Friday, October 3rd as a way to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month this year!
The evening will be filled with live music from local DJ's, inspiring art exhibitions, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and the opportunity to connect with The Northwest Network as well as our local arts community!
For this event the museum will be open during special hours so folks can have a chance to check out their current exhibitions. So come join us! Bring friends and family! Let's celebrate our continual work in creating healthy and sustaining communities by appreciating the role of art in our movements and by connecting with one another! We hope to see you there!

This is a great opportunity to meet other queer, trans, questioning and allied youth from West and all of Seattle.
